Explore Our Injection Overmolding Process

Using the latest tools and the highest quality of overmoulding materials, we are able to streamline our process and minimize waste. To understand more about the benefits of the injection overmolding process, here are some of them:
Quality Assurance

Increased Product Quality

This process creates a much stronger bond between the two materials than other processes, such as compression molding or transfer molding. The higher quality material used in this process also makes it more durable and long-lasting than other materials used in injection molding.

Improved Design Flexibility

With injection overmolding, you can create multiple parts that are integrated into one larger product. The technology also allows you to combine different colors or textures on the same part without having to produce separate components or wait for the paint to dry before assembly. This can save time and money and help you meet your delivery deadlines more easily.
Competitive price

Cost Savings

It allows you to use less material than traditional compression molding methods because there is no need for secondary operations like painting or priming parts before assembly (if desired). You also have more control over how much plastic material goes into each part, which means you can use less material per piece.

Faster Production Times

It can reduce the time it takes to complete ya project by shortening the cycle times associated with each step in the process and by offering more options for customization during production. It also allows you to scale up production without having to worry about your facility’s capacity at any given time.

Reduced Tooling Costs

Injection overmolding requires fewer tools than some other manufacturing processes do because you don’t need molds for each individual part being produced; instead, you only need one master tool or mold that can be reused over and over again until it wears out or breaks down completely due to wear.
Aesthetics

Better Appearance

With the demanding projects from injection overmolding, it is with great importance that a company that you work with offers only the best quality materials. Here at Jamindo, we only use high-quality materials to produce our products—ensuring that your expectations are always met.

Jamindo Injection Overmolding Process

Using the latest tools and equipment manned by associate technicians of Jamindo, we are able to produce a wide range of products using the injection molding process. The parts we manufacture include custom plastic bottles, industrial hand tools, medical devices, and more. To get an overview of our process works, here’s the breakdown.
Injection Overmolding on site

Step 1: 3D Design

We first start with a 3D design of the product that you want us to create. We use the latest software to design your product so that we can have an accurate representation of what you want.

Step 2: Tooling

After the Design is approved, we will then proceed to create the tooling. The tooling is what will be used in the injection overmolding process. It is made out of high-quality steel that can withstand high temperatures.

Step 3: Injection overmoulding

Once the tooling is ready, we will then proceed to the injection overmolding process. This is where the actual overmoulding will take place. We will inject molten plastic into the tooling to create the product.

Step 4: Cooling and Trimming

After the product is created, it will then be cooled down so that it can retain its shape. Once it has cooled down, we will then trim the excess plastic creating a seamless overmolded product.

Step 5: Quality Control

After the product is trimmed, we will then proceed to quality control. This is where we will check if the product meets our high standards. We will also check if the product meets your expectations.

Step 6: Packing and Shipping

Once the product passes our quality control, we will then pack it and ship it to you. We use only the best packaging materials to ensure that your product arrives in perfect condition and can provide you with a long-lasting product.

Benefits of Injection Overmolding

Compared to traditional molding methods, injection overmolding offers a number of benefits. They are not only easy to execute, cost-effective, and more environmentally friendly, but they also allow for the creation of more complex parts than traditional methods.
  • Custom Plastic Parts: Injection overmolding is a great process to use when you need custom plastic parts. Because the mold is already made, injection molding machines can produce these parts quickly and easily.
  • Improved Product Performance: Injection overmold production also allows manufacturers to improve the performance of their products without having to spend a huge chunk.
  • Reduced Manufacturing Costs: Because injection overmold production uses a single mold instead of two separate ones, it’s cheaper than traditional injection molding processes and requires fewer resources.

FAQs of Injection Overmolding Services

Overmolding is basically an injection molding process that is used to mold one plastic material over another. Overmolding plastic on metal is the most common type of overmolding, but it can also be done with other materials such as wood, glass, or even another type of plastic.
Insert molding is the process where the insert (usually made of metal) is placed into the mold before the plastic is injected. Injection overmolding, on the other, uses both plastic and metal. The plastic is injected into the mold first; then a metal insert is placed afterward to create a single piece of plastic-over-metal product.
Over traditional manufacturing processes, overmolding offers a lot of advantages, including reduced manufacturing costs, improved product strength and durability, and more.
The good thing about injection overmolding is that it can be used for variety applications as well as to create parts for a variety of industries. The accuracy and repeatability of the process make it ideal for manufacturing parts that require precision. It’s also an excellent choice for creating small, intricate parts that need to be made with tight tolerances.
Outside testing and quality control, injection overmolding can be divided into four different stages. This includes claiming, injection, cooling, and injection. However, it is necessary to have all the products made using the process to be tested, ensuring that the parts meet all requirements. This includes testing for strength and durability, as well as for function. It is important to remember that each of these stages has its own unique challenges and can’t be done without taking into consideration the impact on other parts of the process.
In traditional injection molding, a single material is injected into a mold and cooled down. Once the product is removed from the mold, it can be used immediately or further processed. On the other hand, overmolding process involves two simultaneous injection molding processes, which are usually performed by separate machines. The first process injects the core material into a mold and creates a hollow part. The second process injects the outer material into the same mold and creates skin around the core. After completing both processes, the two materials are cooled down and removed from the mold.
